We know only premium grapes can make great wine, so our first job is to choose the best vineyard site. Then we consider the grape clone and vineyard architecture. We harvest at night to preserve the calibre of the grape and from here, our meticulous and unique winemaking process enhances the grape’s inherent quality. The result is true varietal flavour and individual character for each wine.

Our grapes come from 1000 hectares of our proprietary vineyards and the rest is drawn from our strict, quality-controlled grower base of 80 vignerons. Spanning a radius of 500 kilometres to the west and south, we source grapes from the major premium viticultural regions including McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Southern Fleurieu, and the Riverland. The majority of the crush, however, is from within the Murray Darling region.

Most varieties excel here in the Murray Darling and we are lucky because the famous four; Shiraz, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot all perform exceedingly well.

Other varieties grown at Qualia Wines include Pinot Noir, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, Semillon and Muscat Gordo Blanco (Moscato).

Our vineyard strategy is for small to mid-sized holdings spread throughout the region. This approach ensures consistency and quality through blending options and mitigates any loss through crop damage or weather events thus safeguarding our supply. We have direct control and an auditable trail from vine to wine.
